What is VoIP
VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol – that is, voice delivered using Internet Protocol. In a nutshell, VoIP enables both cost savings and extra functionality by enabling voice traffic to be converted to the digital format of data packets and delivered over a data network (using Internet Protocol) instead of the traditional public switched telephone network (PSTN).
VoIP provides untimed national call rates, half price line rental and allows multi site business free intra office calling.

Why should I consider VoIP?
Today, IP telephony is taking the world by storm. Throughout the United States VoIP has become the corporate standard due to its cost savings, flexibility and security. By converging data and voice onto one single wide-area network (WAN), companies are changing the way they communicate internally and externally. In Australia, many large organisations are already reaping the benefits of VoIP, and now, with Anttel, all businesses, regardless of size, can enjoy the same benefits.

Can I keep my advertised number?
Yes! You can keep your advertised number on the traditional PSTN network and send your outgoing calls over VoIP or you have the option of porting your advertised number to Anttel’s VoIP network to eliminate the expensive PSTN line rental costs.

Isn’t all VoIP the same?
No, there are a number of differences that will affect the quality of the calls so you need to be careful selecting your VoIP provider. Things to look for include:

  • Ensuring that your calls are carried over a dedicated VoIP broadband connection supplied by your VoIP provider, not just the public Internet;
  • That voice traffic is prioritised over standard data, with an industry standard of Quality of Service (QoS); and
  • That your network is monitored and available 24/7.

These are the levels of service and quality that Anttel has brought to the Australian VoIP market.

Will VoIP work on my Phone System?
VoIP will work with any phone system new or old, all your features and settings stay the same. If you have a standard phone system that currently has Telstra lines connected, to get you onto VoIP we simply connect your lines to a piece of technology called a ‘VoIP Gateway’ which gives your business instant access to the most reliable business-grade VoIP network in Australia.

Anttel only uses top performing gateway technology that’s why we trust Quintum. The continuous reliability of the Quintum product has enabled us to provide an unheard of 30 day money back guarantee to most customers.

Can I use a phone system that has VoIP ability built in (P-PBX)?

If you have a new phone system that supports SIP trunking we have tested our VoIP services with many of the popular IP PBX’s on the market today including; NEC SV8100, LG IPECS, Cisco Call Manager, Trixbox and Epygi, Avaya to name a few.

I’m locked into a contract, can I still use VoIP to save on call costs?
If you’re only contracted to the line rental charge then you may be able to use our VoIP lines for your outgoing calls. This will reduce your costs by up to 60%. Anttel can help you determine if this is the best option for you.

I’m using VoIP lines for outgoing calling, can I disconnect my PSTN lines to save more money?
